Dean of Students
Allyson Rafanello serves as the Dean of Students with oversight of Student Conduct, Student Care and Concern, and Student Accessibility Services. Allyson spends her days supporting her team, working directly with students faculty, staff, and family members to resolve issues or concerns, and as a active part of the Student Affairs Leadership Team. Allyson joined the Panther family in 2014 and served in several roles prior to stepping into the Dean of Students role in 2018. Her educational background includes a bachelors degree in Journalism from Indiana University, a masters degree in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education from Ball State University, and she is currently working on the final steps of earning her doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Iowa. Prior to life at UNI, Allyson worked in Housing & Residence Life at several institutions.
Assistant Dean of Students
Janel Newman serves as the Assistant Dean of Students. Her primary responsibilities include administering the Student Conduct Code and working with students, faculty, staff, and families to provide assistance in managing student issues and concerns. Janel joined the Dean of Students staff in 2018 after serving as the Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards at the State University of New York at Potsdam. Janel received her bachelors degree in Business Administration from SUNY Canton and her masters of Education in Organizational Leadership from SUNY Potsdam. Janel is pursuing her Doctorate in Education at UNI. Prior to her work in conduct and concern, Janel served eight years in Residence Life and Housing at various institutions.
Annie Wilson serves as a Graduate Assistants in the Dean of Students area. In her role, she is primarily responsible for administering student conduct cases and providing support to students of concern. She is currently pursuing her masters degree in Postsecondary Education: Student Affairs. Annie received her bachelors degree from UNI in Interactive Digital Studies. Annie's professional background includes work in study abroad, admissions, and fraternity and sorority life.
Logan Mundt serves as a Graduate Assistant in the Dean of Students area. His primary responsibilities include working with students of concern and administering student conduct cases, as well as facilitating programs designed to assist students in making more positive life choices during their time on campus. Logan received his bachelor's degree in Leisure, Youth, and Human services from UNI in the Spring of 2013. Logan is pursuing his masters degree in Postsecondary Education: Student Affairs and plans to graduate with his M.A. in Education in the Spring of 2020.
As the Graduate Intern in the Dean of Students area Rachel works with supporting students of concern and administering low level student conduct cases. Rachel graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Postsecondary Education: Student Affairs.
Assistant Dean of Students, Student Accessibility Services
Kelly Fiddelke serves as a central resource on disability-related information, procedures, and services while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. She assists students by determining eligibility for accommodations and supports University efforts to ensure an accessible, welcoming environment for individuals with disabilities.
Coordinator, Student Accessibility Services
As the Disability Specialist for Student Accessibility Services, Jenny assists students by determining eligibility for accommodations, providing challenge and support through the office's Weekly Mentoring program, overseeing the conversion of course material into accessible format, and offering assistive technology resources and outreach events.
Graduate Assistant, Student Accessibility Services
Lindsey Laughlin serves as a Graduate Assistant for Student Accessibility Services. Her primary responsibilities include assisting in the administration of academic accommodations & assistive technology, helping to coordinate and create activists for Disability Awareness Month. Lindsey received her bachelor's degree in Child, Adult, and Family Services with a minor in Gerontology from Iowa State University. Lindsey is passionate about helping students be successful in college; she firmly believes college should be challenging but not defeating. Lindsey is working towards her master’s degree in Student Affairs at UNI.
Graduate Assistant, Administrative Operations

Kristin Mossman serves as the Administrative Operations Graduate Assistant for the Dean of Students and Student Accessibility Services. Her primary responsibilities include supervising the student hourly staff within both offices, updating the Parents & Family newsletter and managing the Dean of Students social media pages. Kristin received her bachelors degree in Sociology from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Kristin is pursuing her Masters in Post-Secondary Education: Student Affairs at UNI.
Graduate Intern, Student Accessibility
As the graduate intern with Student Accessibility Services, Sandi Anderson's roles include community building among new students, addressing student concerns, as well as working on various projects throughout the semester. Sandi will graduate from UNI in December 2019 with her bachelor’s degree in Social Work.
